The BE AN AZLOEAN CONTEST call for entries has ended. The judging has begun, and the five finalists will be posted a week from today on September 15. From those five, you the readers will choose the winner and decide who will BE AN AZLOEAN! Thank you to everyone for your wonderful entries, and best of luck to you all!
Today’s update features a new character that has been mentioned since the beginning…
I almost got to see Wall-E today, but got called away to draw. Of all things. Anyway, I’ve heard it’s excellent- any of you seen it?
Today’s question on the main page is: Do you like the new front page format of the Xylia site, or would you prefer to have the site open to the comic page?
Thank you for reading everyone!

Just started reading, and love what I’ve seen. ^^
Wall-E is a terrific movie, but has quite a few sad moments. It’s one of those stories that end well, but still make you teary and blah. XD

I like the site the way it is. The new comic is amazingly drawn as always, bring on the bad guys, LOL! I have been anticipating the face i would love to hate!
Sadly, I have never seen wall-e.

OhEmGee. Barb, you have outdone yourself. Flippin’ amazingly fantastic composition!
AND THE BAD GUY! WOW!
I do believe the word you are looking for in panel 3 is “siphoned,” or occasionally spelled, “syphoned.”
I LOVE the “rogue king.” Has a great ring to it!

I think it’s better to have the comic on the main page as it was done before – it saves a few clicks and feels more comfortable.
September 8th, 2008 at 12:57 am
Oh Barb you did it again. You made a (as far as I can see of him) hot bad guy, But then again I have thing for badguys with red eyes or red hair and it seems as if he got both of those.
Love this page.
Poor Phanny all alone with baby Claudiepoo and it seems she going to meet the head evil dude, hottie manfairy Deimos or is it god? O_o
Claude as a baby was just adorble.
September 8th, 2008 at 2:21 am
Woah ! Hot bad guy indeed ! But very frightenning too. This black and red aura… *shivers*
As for the main page, I love it like it is, but I would prefer a redirection when you click on a comic’s link, rather than the openning of a new page. (haem, sorry for my bad expression… I keep trying !)
September 8th, 2008 at 5:19 am
open it either way, but this paisley-ish border is ugh…not as good as your artwork.
wall-e was surprisingly wonderful and whimsical and just what america needs today. the trailers sucked so bad though, you could not help but be pleased.
September 8th, 2008 at 7:00 am
The words fit “courteous evil”, but the expression does not – It speaks of deep, black evil, barely restrained.
I think what Marie means is not to have the links open new tabs but open “in same window” and I do have to agree – I usually open all the comics I follow at the same time, in different tabs and this forces me to open a new tab at the end, rather than having Xylia in its proper place.
September 8th, 2008 at 7:20 am
Yes, Melvar, that’s what I meant. Thank you.
September 8th, 2008 at 8:04 am
Deimos! Oh my….hes kind of scary but I agree with the others: hes not bad looking….
The black balloon with the red letters make him all the more threathening, like he speaks with this sinister bad-guy voice. It seems that his words are kind but how hes uttering them is not at all friendly.
Baby Claudius…squee!
I like the site design, its clear where the newest page is and where the other links go. I also think its more clear to new readers that there are two stories going on.
I do agree with what some others said though that it would be better to let the comic open in the same window. But then its maybe an idea to put a more obvious link back to the Xyliatales main page.
People that dont want to click so much can save the url to the comic homepage in their favourites: http://comic.xyliatales.com/
Im seeing Wall-E this evening, so unfortunately I cant tell you how it is yet.

September 8th, 2008 at 9:55 am
Thank you for your comments everyone! I’m glad that the site is working for most of you. The purpose for going to that format is like Henrike says- it’s more clear to see the two stories.
Nigai and Angyl- welcome to Xyliatales! I hope you continue to enjoy the story.
Satharra- been kinda waiting to get some baddies into this story… ^_^
Kez- thank you for pointing out the typo!
Silvara- yeaaah…poor gal has a baby and then has to deal with…him.
MArie- thank you for the comment- I will talk to Kez about whether or not we can make that change.
Michelle- you no likey the border?
Melvar- come on! Deimos is a teddy bear.
Henrike- You likey them bad boys, huh? Bad Boy Man Faerie.
Thank you everyone fro reading!

HUH?
Do you actually READ this? Just sayin.

I think the lines of his face look like hate lines, rather than age lines or merry lines.
September 8th, 2008 at 10:33 am
I loved WALLE, it is definitely worth seeing. Poor Phanessa! How does Ambrosius get out of the oubliette? I liked the old layout better.
September 8th, 2008 at 11:04 am
LOVE the new page! And WALL-E was different, moving, sometimes sad, and ultimately hopeful and uplifting. Most of the movie’s “dialogue” is robot noises, but the facial expressions and body language more than compensate for it.
September 8th, 2008 at 11:20 am
personally i like the page opening to the comic.
Ah Deimos, i’ve been waiting to meet the bad guy.
September 8th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
OoooOooh, I likes! I can’t wait to see what the rest of Deimos’s crown/head decoration looks like!
I like how the website is set up with the sort of welcome page. I think it looks really elegant.
September 8th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Ooooooh awesome update. Deimos doesn’t look at all like I expected him to – but that’s a really good thing.
On a side note, WallE also gushes pure awesome. I’ve seen that movie at least twice. Pure win, I love it.
September 8th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
I love the new front page!
September 8th, 2008 at 4:23 pm
i just said it do you ilke it

Naomi, punctuation is helpful so that Barb understands what you are asking. I don’t know if English is your first language, but you are hard to understand.
The baby is Claudius, and there are no demons (at least, not yet.) Deimos is the name of the evil fairy.
September 8th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
The new web site design makes sense given the multiple stories.
Deimos’s thought/speech bubble at the bottom startled me (I didn’t know he was paying attention!). Enjoyed seeing Kython.
Keep up the great work, Barb!
September 9th, 2008 at 1:19 am
I wonder who would voice Deimos…I almost got an impression just now–I lost it, but maybe it’ll come back to me.
I’ve not seen Wall-E yet…
I don’t mind the site the way it is! (Of course, I’d accept it anyway.) But I think it works. =D
September 9th, 2008 at 4:29 am
This is a great page, a wonderful page- a page you dive in and come up a different person. Demios half face (I sew last week the Dark Knight, so I wonder how the other half looks like…) makes me think of the god Pan- it’s the beard I think. He has some goat-quality to him, no? I like him already!
I love the new layout of the Xylia site- it separates it from other web comics and shows what it’s all about- a project. Not JUST a story. keep it.
I sew Wall-E!!! Me like it! many many joy! come ready to laugh and sigh. Go watch it!
September 9th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
iam not rellay good at spelling
September 12th, 2008 at 6:32 am
First time reader, gotta say i am liking what i am seeing! Wall-E, best animation movie of the year!
September 14th, 2008 at 6:43 am
great page.. I already hate this King Deimos
I loved Wall-E it was really really cute
I liked it better when the front page had the comic on it…. it took less work to get to the new update… but the new front page is kinda nifty too… it doesn’t take that much work to get to the comic
